RCA Small Grants

The programme aims to support and enhance local school and community group entries to Ryde Carnival and help to offset the cost of putting on their increasingly spectacular entries at the carnival. The grant programme is seen as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to the creative community of volunteers and of putting some support in place to help them grow even more ambitious.

Brian Treagus, Treasurer of the Ryde Carnival Association said “The aim of the scheme is to help foster the development of carnival skills within the community and create the most spectacular carnival entries. Learning something completely different each year and involving people of all ages is all part of the infectious carnival spirit.”

Richard May, Head Teacher at Greenmount Primary one of last years beneficiaries, says that “the carnival is really the best way we have to involve children, parents and staff in a single project which generates boundless enthusiasm from all and a real buzz from performing to large crowds”.

The grants programme is open to any ‘not for profit’ groups who will be attending at least two Ryde carnival processions.
